These easy Holiday Oreo Blondie Bars can be made within minutes in one pan.
The base for this recipe is derived from the standard blondies recipe. Some people also know it as blond brownies. The addition of chopped Oreo cookies and festive red and green M & M candies make these chewy bars a great holiday treat.
I really love baking cookies at this time of year, but I also know that in the rush to get everything done in time, it’s great to have an easy, quick recipe on hand. This dessert literally takes just a few minutes to make and less than 30 minutes to bake. There’s no wait time involved with chilling the dough or rolling out cookies.
When I say this is a simple and easy dessert, I mean this is simple. The only way to truly ruin this dessert is by over baking so please, please, please make sure you bake for the recommended time.
I usually make a dessert a couple times before I’ll post the recipe. What I like about these bars is that you can change up the extras. For instance, you can decrease the amount of chopped Oreo cookies and add in white chocolate chips. Just make sure the total amount of extras (ie candies, cookies, chips) doesn’t exceed a cup and a half.
Here’s how to make Holiday Oreo Blondie Bars:
Start off by melting butter in microwave, safe bowl. Set aside to cool.
Use cutting board to chop up 10 to 12 Oreo cookies to equal one cup. Set aside.
Add brown sugar, egg, and vanilla extract to bowl of melted butter. Stir until combined.
Add in flour and salt. Stir until combined. Fold in chopped Oreos and half of M & M candies into batter.
Place parchment paper or aluminum foil into 8 x 8 inch pan. Lightly grease and then use spatula or back of large spoon to spread batter evenly into pan. Press remaining M & M candies on top of batter. (This will give these bars more festive look instead of burying all that color underneath)
Bake at 350 degrees F for 18 to 21 minutes. Edges will appear slightly golden brown and center will look mostly set. Make sure to not overbake as this will make cookie bars dry and crispy once they have cooled. If you want a nice, chewy bar, I’d recommend baking for 19 to 20 minutes maximum.
Remove pan to wire rack to cool for 20 to 30 minutes. Grab edges of aluminum foil or parchment paper to lift bars out of pan. Proceed to cut into squares. Enjoy.
Store in airtight container.
